Our Vision

"To become a premiere resource by serving the greater adoptee community and their families through various programs and services that help promote multicultural education and more awareness of adoption throughout Northern California and beyond."

Our History

The Association of Korean Adoptees – San Francisco (AKASF) was founded in 1997 by four adult Korean Adoptees to serve as a support group to other adult Korean Adoptees living in the San Francisco Bay Area. Through community outreach, cultural enrichment and social gatherings, members have been able to connect with one another and create long lasting friendships and business connections. Some past events and activities include: Korean film screenings; adoptee writers and artists showcases; member educational and social trips to Lake Tahoe and Las Vegas, Bay Area mini social gatherings, Korean Lunar New Year celebrations, presenting and participating in conferences focused on Korean adoption, and various Korean culture & language classes offered by and for AKASF members.

With our re-launch of AKASF that was announced earlier this year in February 2011, we are now expanding our reach to include the greater adoptee community and their families. We are also building stronger relationships with other Korean and non-Korean adoptee organizations around the U.S. In addition, we are identifying and engaging key strategic partners – both individual and corporate to help us better achieve our vision and mission.
